Freak Valley Festival 2027 announces first lineup with Causa Sui, Naxatras, Castle Rat

Freak Valley Festival has revealed the first eight bands for its 2027 edition, set for 27–29 May in Netphen-Deuz, Germany. The announcement, reported by JJ Koczan on The Obelisk today, brings a strong psychedelic, stoner and doom roster: Danish instrumental psych/krautrock heroes Causa Sui, Greek psychedelic voyagers Naxatras, Japanese psych chaos from Green Milk From the Planet Orange, fantasy doom troupe Castle Rat, German sludge duo Mantar, Belgian punk force Maria Iskariot, LA heavy-rock trio Primitive Ring, and Swedish stoner veterans Lowrider.
Koczan, who has attended the last five editions, calls the early booking "no fillers, just killers". Tickets go on sale 2 October at 17:00 CEST via freakvalley.de and rockfreaks.de; an early Freak ticket window opens tomorrow at the Møster / Feedy show at Vortex Surfer. The festival's first poster, illustrated for the 2027 edition, accompanies the announcement.
Freak Valley has built a reputation for curating the heavier and weirder ends of the European psych/stoner/doom spectrum, and this first wave — spanning krautrock jams, fuzzed Greek psych, Japanese noise-prog, theatrical doom and filthy sludge — keeps that trajectory intact.
