Dunes call it a day after ten years

Newcastle stoner-rock trio Dunes have announced their split after a decade. The band posted a short statement on 23 September confirming the decision was mutual and drama-free. Their final shows include this weekend's Stoomfest at The Garage in London and a hometown send-off at The Little Buildings in Newcastle on 3 October with Ashes of Iron and Waheela.
Dunes signed to Ripple Music in 2024 and released their third album, Land of the Blind, in January 2025. Earlier this month they marked the 10-year milestone with a re-recorded version of their early track "Velvet", accompanied by a visualiser on the Ripple Music YouTube channel. The Obelisk notes the band shared stages with Fatso Jetson, Nick Oliveri, Red Fang and Monster Magnet across Desertfest London, Bloodstock and festivals in Sweden and Norway.
The line-up — John Davies (guitar, vocals), Ade Huggins (bass, vocals) and Nikky Watson (drums) — recorded Land of the Blind at Old Church Studios in Thropton with Watson producing. No further releases are planned.
