Kavus Torabi on 'October By Name': a psychedelic trilogy completed

Kavus Torabi

British multi-instrumentalist Kavus Torabi has released his third solo album, October By Name, on 2 October 2026 via Believers Roast. The record completes a trilogy begun with Hip To The Jag (2020) and deepened through The Banishing (2024). In an extensive interview with Echoes and Dust published on 13 October, Torabi discusses how the album's title came from a dream, his shift toward writing love songs for the first time, and the convergence of his work with Gong, Cardiacs and The Utopia Strong. Torabi performs, records, mixes and hand-draws every element himself — a deliberate solipsistic method that retains imperfections as authenticity. The opening track 'Signals Shine' and the single 'Water Into Wine', accompanied by an official video directed by Drain Hope, exemplify the album's luminous, melodic turn toward celestial psychedelia rooted in the lineage of Syd Barrett, Robyn Hitchcock and Julian Cope.
