Amsterdam-based psychedelic stoner/doom collective Cervus have announced their debut full-length Axis, due 13 November. The first single, Black Masquerade, is streaming now alongside pre-orders on Bandcamp; a second single, Fading From View, follows on 30 October.

The band's 2023 EP Shifting Sands moved in atmospheric heavy-psych territory. The Obelisk observes that Black Masquerade tilts the balance toward more grounded, straightforward heavy rock with a traditional metal edge, and it remains to be heard whether the full album sustains that direction or restores the earlier spaciousness.

Axis was recorded at WOODROX studios in Amsterdam. Production, recording and mixing were handled by Rogier Henkelman; mastering is by Karl Daniel Liden. The album will be released on double LP gatefold, CD, digital and limited-edition cassette. Cervus describe their sound as a blend of 70s hard rock, 90s grunge and modern stoner rock with a psychedelic edge.
