Reigns confront the everyday horror on *The Antigeist*

UK underground duo Reigns return with their eighth album, *The Antigeist*, released 25 September 2026 on Wrong Speed Records. The review by Jared Dix on Echoes and Dust (24 September 2026) describes a record that swings back toward song structure after the instrumental *Dead Centre*, with the Farthing brothers — Roo and Tim — now credited under their own names.
The expanded quartet adds Rob Ellis on drums (PJ Harvey, Marianne Faithfull) and Joe Thompson on bass (Hey Colossus). Recorded in a single January 2025 session at Axe & Trap Studios in Wells, Somerset, then refined over a year, the album blends piano-led arrangements, softer melodic vocals and the project's characteristic disquiet. The title, an uneasy compound of *zeitgeist*, *poltergeist* and *Antichrist*, originates from the second track "Beast", which opens with a biblical vision and folds in Dickens and British history to reflect on rising fascism.
"Population 206" spins immigration myths into enervated synth-pop; "Cramming" sketches religious conversions of powerful men through unanswered questions. The closing "America" finds a defeated narrator folding his clothes under a pier and walking into the sea toward an amniotic serenity. Dix calls the record "still unsettling, still marvellous, still Reigns."
