Ogives Big Band and POHL release split on Ripcord Records

Bristol's Ogives Big Band and Sheffield's POHL have released a split album through Scottish label Ripcord Records. The 37-minute record pairs four tracks from Ogives Big Band — ranging from the hook-laden 'I'm Glad You Exist' to the chaotic 'Read Us The Book of The Names of The Dead' — with POHL's single 17-minute contribution 'Flayed Lord Prayer'. The review on Echoes and Dust describes POHL's side as a ritual-sacrifice narrative carried by fuzzed-up stoner rock, hazy psychedelia and crackling atmospherics, with a searing saxophone solo mid-song. Ogives Big Band lean into sharp doom, harsh sludge and tinges of psych rock. The split is available digitally, on clear splatter vinyl and CD digipack. Ripcord Records, based in Scotland, focuses on post-rock, post-metal, sludge, doom and noise.
