Japanese ensemble maya ongaku blend earthy psychedelia, dub rhythms and tender ambient folk on their 2023 debut album Approach to Anima, released via Guruguru Brain. The official video for "Melting", directed by Itsuki Yoshizawa, accompanies the album's opening track with a meditative visual journey filmed on Enoshima. Tsutomu Sonoda (vocals, guitar), Ryota Takano (bass) and Shoei Ikeda (saxophone, synth, Wurlitzer) craft a sound that feels light yet grounding, delicate yet expansive — a philosophical soundscape rooted in what they term Earthy Psychedelia. The video premiered on the band's official YouTube channel in 2023. A calibrated, calming entry point to the current Japanese psychedelic underground.
