Rotterdam's Teardrinker set debut album I Hope This Hurts for November

Teardrinker

Rotterdam-based Teardrinker will release their debut album I Hope This Hurts on 13 November 2026 through Killjoy Sanctuary. The eight-track record was commissioned for Roadburn Festival 2026 and centres on bodily autonomy, colonial violence and collective resistance; vocalist Kimothy Hoorweg wrote the lyrics and the cover artwork.

Echoes and Dust published a review on 23 October, describing the opening track "The Crow Knows" as a seven-minute piece where post-metal density meets black-metal blastbeats and blackgaze shimmer, with Hoorweg moving between shriek, growl and clean singing inside single words. Reviewer Diana Revell notes that the album widens from personal bodily trauma to systemic oppression, and that the closing cello offers a fragile hope rather than resolution.

The lineup includes guitarist Matteo Cerroni, guitarist Rens de Boer, bassist Noâh Elshout and drummer Gijs van Teylingen; Rens de Boer produced and engineered the record, with Role handling mixing and mastering. The first official audio, "Blessed is the Flame", is out now on YouTube.
