Noah C. Lekas announces Flowers of Perennial Dissent — poetry album born from ketamine therapy sessions

Noah C. Lekas will release Flowers of Perennial Dissent on 23 October through Blind Owl Records as a combined album and chapbook. The project emerged from six supervised ketamine therapy sessions Lekas underwent while recovering from a life-threatening illness that coincided with the loss of his writing career to AI. Each session became a poem; the thirty-odd pages of notes were then given to musicians including Anthony Pirog, Ethan Miller (Howlin' Rain), Charlie Parr, Luther Dickinson, Ian Grant and Chad Lee, who recorded their parts before the poems were finished. Jeremiah Zimmerman produced. The first piece, "Listening to Bob Dylan and Waiting for the world to end," premiered via Southwest Review. Lekas describes the record not as healing or transcendence but as endurance: "We are constantly becoming, yet constantly reminded of who we've been."
