Xeeland Announces 'Laws and Triangles,' a Drone Album Inspired by Tarkovsky's Stalker

Liverpool-born musician Xeeland, formerly guitarist in the psych-rock outfit Mugstar, will release 'Laws and Triangles: Music Inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky's Stalker' on 30 October through God Unknown Records. The eight-track album derives its title from a line of dialogue by the film's Writer character, who contrasts rigid mathematical logic with the lawless physics of the Zone.
Rather than re-scoring Edward Artemiev's original soundtrack, Xeeland wrote the basic structure of one track per day over an eight-day period while watching the film once daily. The record layers low, guttural drones with synths and manipulated field recordings to construct sustained, minimal noise textures aligned with the film's narrative progression.
The album follows 2025's 'Master Builder,' which The Quietus described as 'an apt soundtrack for brutalist buildings.' A listening party is scheduled on Bandcamp ahead of release. The first preview, 'Death's Companion,' is available on the God Unknown Records YouTube channel. Xeeland describes the project as a way of connecting his music to a film he has watched roughly thirty times.
