Ruben Romano — founding drummer of Nebula and Fu Manchu, now leading The Freeks — has announced his second solo album La Vendetta Della Bona, due 13 October via his own Freek Flag Records. The 15-track, 41-minute record frames itself as an imaginary soundtrack to a giallo film that doesn't exist, continuing the cinematic concept of his 2024 debut The Imaginary Soundtrack to the Imaginary Western Twenty Graves Per Mile.

The opening single "Il Baffone" (Italian for "the big moustache") is streaming now on Bandcamp. It features a horn section and a guest guitar turn from Isaiah Mitchell (Earthless), channelling 1970s detective-theme groove with a blaxploitation edge. Romano cites Peter Gunn, Dragnet and The Pink Panther as touchstones. The album was produced by Romano, mixed and mastered by John McBain, with cover art by Gretchen Mahnkopf.

Pre-orders for CD, cassette and digital editions are open at Freek Flag Records. For followers of the Californian desert-psych lineage, this release adds a distinctive giallo-tinted chapter to Romano's already deep catalogue.
