Uriah Heep
...Very 'Eavy ...Very 'Umble
The debut the critic would have died for
Released in the UK on 13 June 1970, ...Very 'Eavy ...Very 'Umble introduced Uriah Heep's blend of heavy organ, vocal drama and progressive heft. A contemporary hostile review, alongside chart results with their dates.
The verdict at the time
Mills declared she would commit suicide if the group succeeded, dismissing Uriah Heep as a 'watered down, tenth-rate Jethro Tull' that was 'even more boring and inane', and asserted the band would have been thrown off stage had they played live clubs.
